Readers who have been reading steadily through the Quran to this point will certainly understand its message of punishment for “disbelievers.” Muhammad Daud Rahbar, who completed a Cambridge PhD on the theology of the Quran, estimated that every third verse of the Quran is about judgment (see his book God of Justice). Sūra 70 offers further detail on hell, heaven, and the criteria of the Judge.
