وَجَعَلۡنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ شَٰمِخَٰتٖ وَأَسۡقَيۡنَٰكُم مَّآءٗ فُرَاتٗا

And did We not place on it lofty mountains, and give you fresh water to drink?

Historical Error
This verse contains a scientific error by claiming that lofty mountains were placed on the earth as stabilizing anchors. The Tafsir explicitly confirms this ancient cosmological view, stating that 'the earth is held in place with them so that it does not shake and sway.' Modern geology reveals the exact opposite: mountains are formed by tectonic plate collisions and are frequently the epicenters of seismic activity and earthquakes, contradicting the Quranic assertion that they prevent the earth from shaking.
