This sūra seems to stitch together by now very familiar themes with the help of a repeating refrain. On the positive side are the signs of the Creator and a vision of rewards in heaven. On the warning side are frightening signs in the universe, the destruction of former peoples, and the sights and suffering of hell.

A series of oaths (vv. 1–6) leads up to a promise that the “Day of Decision” (faṣl) will surely come (v. 13).
