Such descriptions have attracted the attention of non-Muslims. What do they intend to portray about the characteristics of the heavenly “Gardens”? Elsewhere the Quran mentions “(maidens) with dark, wide eyes” (44.54; 52.20; 56.22; cf. 55.72), “(maidens) restraining (their) glances” (38.52; 55.56), and “virgins” (56.36). See the comment at 44.54.
