Surah 79:30
"And the earth, after that, He spread it out."
Claimed Miracle: Geology / Cosmology
APOLOGIST CLAIM
"Apologists claim the word 'dahaha' describing the Earth means 'egg-shaped' (specifically an ostrich egg), predicting the Earth's oblate spheroid shape."
Refutation & Exegesis
This is a widespread linguistic fallacy. Classical Arabic dictionaries and foremost exegetes (such as Al-Tabari and Ibn Kathir) universally define 'dahaha' as 'to spread out', 'to flatten', or 'to expand'—consistent with a flat-earth cosmology. The connection to an ostrich egg stems from a completely different noun derivative associated with the *nest or resting place* an ostrich clears in the sand, not the shape of the egg itself. Morphing 'flattened out' into 'oblate spheroid' is a linguistically illegitimate attempt to force concordance with modern spherical geometry.
Mistranslation
This is one of the most glaring examples of mistranslation. Proponents butcher the Arabic root of 'dahaha'—which unanimously meant 'to flatten or spread out' in classical Arabic—and falsely link it to an ostrich egg to frantically dodge the flat-earth implications.
