Surah 8

Surah 8:17

"You did not kill them, but God killed them, and you did not throw when you threw, but God threw, and (He did that) in order to test the believers (with) a good test from Himself. Surely God is hearing, knowing."

8.17 – You did not kill them, but God killed them
This sūra seems to synchronize the actions of the messenger and the “believers” with the actions of Allah. In the heat of battle, how clearly can warriors discern whether their actions are godly or carnal? Where does the Quran deal with the temptation to justify human actions by claiming they are God’s?
