83.7 – By no means! Surely the book of the depraved is indeed in Sijjīn
This verse begins with the exclamation kallā, which means “certainly not!” The expression also appears at the beginning of verses 14, 15, and 18.
The meanings of several words in this sūra are not known. Sijjīn and ‘Illiyyīn (v. 18) are described as written books of the depraved and the pious, respectively. Tasnīm (v. 27) seems to be a name for a spring.
