Surah 9

Surah 9:100

"The foremost – the first of the emigrants and the helpers, and those who have followed them in doing good – God is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. He has prepared for them Gardens through which rivers flow, there to remain forever. That is the great triumph!"

The Muslim story of Islamic origins describes the “emigrants” ( muhājirūn ) as those who migrated from Mecca to Medina with Muhammad and the “helpers” ( anṣār ) as the people in Medina who received and helped the Muslims. This verse says that Allah is pleased with both groups and has prepared “Gardens” for them in the afterlife.
