Surah 94

Surah 94:2

"and deliver you of your burden,"

94.2–3 – and deliver you of your burden, which had broken your back?
The expression translated here “burden” can also mean “sin” or “crime” and is the same word found in the repeating verse, “No one bearing a burden bears the burden of another” (e.g., 6.164; 17.15). If this sūra is understood to be addressing the messenger, it raises a question about the sin weighing on him.
See an analysis of prophetic requests for forgiveness at 48.2 and the discussion of human “burdens” at 53.38.
