The Temple of God: Indwelling, Sanctification, and Imparting Divine Life (32)
"For it is not you who speak, but [it is] the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying:
Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet [given], because Jesus was not yet glorified.
[that is] the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, [but] you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.
'AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,' God says, 'THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND; AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY, AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS, AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS;
So Ananias departed and entered the house, and after laying his hands on him said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit."
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message.
and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, ministering as a priest the gospel of God, so that [my] offering of the Gentiles may become acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
Do you not know that you are a temple of God and [that] the Spirit of God dwells in you?
Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?
who also sealed us and gave [us] the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.
who also made us adequate [as] servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-- having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,
in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.
that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
So, he who rejects [this] is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you.
Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to [you].
He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit,
The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
Divine Attributes: Omniscience and Revelation of Truth (15)
"David himself said in the Holy Spirit, 'THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, "SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I PUT YOUR ENEMIES BENEATH YOUR FEET."'
"When they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but [it is] the Holy Spirit.
And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
"But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
except that the Holy Spirit solemnly testifies to me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions await me.
and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to [the will of] God.
I am telling the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience testifies with me in the Holy Spirit,
For to us God revealed [them] through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.
For who among men knows the [thoughts] of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the [thoughts] of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.
which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit;
seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.
for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know.
As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.
Triadic Formulas: Co-Equality in the Trinity (22)
After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove [and] lighting on Him,
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came out of heaven, "You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased."
"I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;
"When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, [that is] the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me,
"He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose [it] to you.
"All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose [it] to you.
And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
"Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear.
Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me,
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit.
Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God,
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.
for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.
[There is] one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling;
for I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion,
But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.
according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be yours in the fullest measure.
For there are three that testify:
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace, from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne,
Supreme Authority and Direct Identification as God (14)
The angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.
But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back [some] of the price of the land?
"While it remained [unsold], did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God."
While Peter was reflecting on the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Behold, three men are looking for you.
While they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."
"Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
And when they did not agree with one another, they [began] leaving after Paul had spoken one [parting] word, "The Holy Spirit rightly spoke through Isaiah the prophet to your fathers,
But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, [there] is liberty.
Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE,
how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying,
If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.
'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God.'
Divine Majesty: The Unforgivable Sin and Offenses Against the Spirit (7)
"Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven.
"Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the [age] to come.
but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin "--
"And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him.
"You men who are stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did.
Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?
